Webhall Design features
Webhall have two stud profiles – 70mm and 90mm allowing greater design and engineering options.
- 70mm - Stud profile is 70mm x 33mm x 12mm lipped 'C' section with 70mm x 46mm Bottom Plate and 70mmx66mm Structural Top Plate 'U' section
- 90mm – Stud profile is 90mm x 43mm x 12mm lipped/swagged stud system incorporating top plate, noggin and bottom plate.
- Factory installed steel strap bracing and or "K" bracing
- Roof pitch 18-30 degrees recommended; custom pitches easily catered for
- Joint fastening with high tensile 6.4mm blind s/s rivets
- Fully integrated nogging using bottom plate section; one row up to 2700mm, two rows over 2700mm
- Webhall uses BlueScope TrueCore BMT 0.6mm, 0.8mm and 1mm gauge G550 high tensile coil steel.
- Structural top plate for truss load and layout efficiencies
- Window Head/Sill openings over 1200mm engineered and fully installed in factory
- Roof truss spacing 600mm or 900mm for tile or up to 1200mm for sheet metal roofing such as Colorbond.
- Maximum eaves overhang 900mm for sheet metal roofing
- Most common truss spans easily achieved; custom spans possible with appropriate engineering
- Laced joist offers ease of services installation with flexible joist depths. Joists can span up to 6 metres (depending on joist depth) unsupported and simply supported for longer spans
- Engineering, manufacturing, assembly and erection systems are specifically designed for light commercial and professional home builders
Engineering
- Engineered up to C4 Cyclonic.
- Webhall Building Systems is fully engineer certified and BHP tested. All component members (bracing, nogging, heads over openings, truss configurations), fastenings (rivets, truss bolts, and screws), and accessories (brackets, screws, hold-downs etc) have been tested and certified. Full specifications are available in the erection manuals, along with engineering detail if required.
- Roof trusses and wall frames with respect to design and construction, satisfies all requirements for AS1170 Pt 1&2 Loading Code, Wind, AS/NZ4600 Cold-Formed Steel Structures, AS4100 1990 Steel Structure Code, AS3823 1993 Domestic Metal Framing, AS3588 2000 Self Drilling Screws and the Building Code of Australia.
Durability of Steel
- Resistant to warping, twisting, and shrinkage, steel framing eliminates the costly recall of tradesmen to repair leaks and cracks resulting from structural defects.
- Steel is both non-combustible and impervious to termites and vermin. Webhall Steel Frames & Trusses uses BlueScope TrueCore coated high tensile steel in its manufacture of light gauge steel framing.
Strength
- Webhall's riveted steel framing system provides more uniform tolerances and exhibits superior physical and mechanical stability.
- The greater tensile strength, strength-to-weight ratio and bending strength of steel ensures greater versatility of design and erection.
- Webhall's system meets and exceeds all Australian Building Codes Standards, and is fully engineered to industry standards.
Uniformity
- The consistent quality of steel enables precision engineering to produce an aesthetically and structurally superior finish.
- Webhall Steel Frames & Trusses precision engineered manufacturing system expedites both assembly and erection, reducing overall construction costs.
- The uniformity of steel makes it a more reliable and cost effective material, eliminating the costs currently associated with some timber products.
Software
- Using state-of-the-art software, production detailing files are prepared from architectural drawings/plans. The file generates all the appropriate instructions to the roll forming machines. The file is automatically backgrounded with complete engineering detail, specifies the required steel thickness for each member of the wall frame, roof truss and floor joist.
- Full cutting lists are generated for quoting purposes, plus the print out of assembly drawings and erection plans for all wall frames, roof trusses and floor joists. All engineering detail can also be provided should that be required.
Production
- Webhall uses high tensile s/s rivets at every wall, truss and floor joist joint. Computer controlled roll formers pre-punch, notch, cutout and cut to length all members. To ensure quality control, each member is ink jet coded with identification ready for assembly.
Assembly
- Frame assembly is both accurate and efficient. As the wall frames, roof trusses and floor joists are pre-punched, notched and cut to length; assembly is a simplified process using pneumatically installed high shear strength stainless steel rivets. The flush finish achieved through counter sinking the rivet holes ensures fix-out trades a clean smooth surface.

On-site erection
- On-site erection [our team or yours] is fast and simple with full layout plans supplied to the builder/framer. All accessories are provided such as wall frame joining screws, brackets, hold down bolts, ceiling battens, electrical and plumbing grommets.
Flat Packing [CKD]
- Webhall Steel Frames & Trusses is able to provide a 'Flat-Pack' option whereby the full detailing and manufacturing process takes place at our factory, except that the builder at a regional or remote location undertakes the assembly.
- Flat-Packs are easy and simple to assemble either on site, or in a shed as all members are pre-punched and inkjet coded. The codes need only be matched to the shop drawings and assembly can take place. Webhall supplies all the necessary fastening ancillaries; rivets, bolts, screws and insulating grommets (plumbing and electrical). Wall and truss layout plans are also provided.
- Flat-Packs are an easy, fast and economical way to benefit from the strength and security of steel for practically any building application.
